Field shots – our blog

(PHOTO: Once a year, tern decoys come in from the field for a facelift and for rehab!)

As with any long-term study, our collaborative projects include many components, from designing suitable enclosures to place over Western Snowy Plover nests to reduce depredation, to using social attraction techniques (decoys and acoustic playback) to encourage California Least Terns to nest in newly restored habitat.

Our team contributes many of our field stories and updates as part of the Science Blog section of the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research.  You can browse through the titles here. Our partners too share exciting updates, and we invite you to visit us again soon for news and stories as we continue to build our website!
