Resighting birds
You can help build our knowledge about survival, movement, and habitat use when you spot banded birds. Photographs are invaluable as well!
If you see Western Snowy Plovers or California Least Terns, you can report these to us – please follow this link. If you are a collaborator, you can also review some recent sightings.
To report any avian species with markings (legs, wings, collars, or others), you can report sightings to the US Geological Survey (USGS) Bird Banding Lab: here.
And don’t forget – eBIRD (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) is a great place to learn about birds, and to send your observations of any bird, marked or unbanded! Use this link to create your ‘My eBIRD’ account. Other platforms welcome your observations of plants, invertebrates, or vertebrates; visit iNaturalist for some great photos and to share your observations.
